I spray into the air and walk through and do not find it overwhelming at all (and I am a person who is sensitive to fragrances).
I have a current version and can only imagine that those describing a sillage monster must have vintage or original formulas.
Also, I personally have a low tolerance for sweetness in perfume and find the bath oil too sweet for my tastes.
The EDP suits my preferences perfectly so it is my method of choice and I have been getting a lot of use out of it.
Kudos to those who can wear it and appreciate it, it was definitely the dark mysterious sexy scent for the in charge woman back in the day. I'd find wearing this intimidation its not " me" but I don't think its a bad scent. I suggest if you can't wear this but like the vibe, try Opium, Tabu or Youth Dew Amber. It's great to see others' reviews on fragrances and it helps, but it's not a deterrent or a given as everyone's chemistry is different and we all do like different notes in perfumes. It smells like a very very cheap, very badly mixed, murdered notes... lol She said one would either like or hate it and that most of the ladies that purchased it were "older." Thank goodness I didn't just blind buy. Had it before and although I love the scent it is SO strong that it firehoses everything else out of the room. I’m Catholic and the opening of this perfume is Christmas Mass when the incense is being used.
My aunt wore this to Midnight masses, Christmas dinners, special events. With so many good reviews and accolades to this perfume I decided to give it a try... Living in the subtropics I am not sure how to wear this in public - the scent is like talking too loud and too long and not letting anyone else have a go. Then on me it dries down to a slightly sweet, expensive/department store makeup compact.
She was lovably daffy, older lady but she felt sexy when she wore this. I liked to smell it on her while my little cousin said it " smells like church and cough drops". Yesterday I sprayed it into the air, waited a moment then walked through it. Years ago, wearing it at full volume in the privacy of my home, I was unexpectedly called to work to assist with a caesarian on a dog. He never said a word but he seemed to have some difficulty breathing. I’m sure there are plenty of artificial chemicals here, but something about it fools me into believing that there are actual resins or essential oils in here. Many other reviewers have written more technical descriptions than I can, but the reason I wanted to leave a review was to say that I recently bought this at Macy’s without having smelled this since I was a young person in the 1980’s.
I got into vintages and Youth Dew was one of my first vintage blind buys. The YD Bath Oil is thick musky incense syrup-- amazing in it's comfort and warmth. In the "dip" of my clavicle I put a drop of bath oil. I finely misted myself all over with Tabu cologne in the violin shaped bottle. Tabu, like YD, came alive in the cold dry winter air. ;) Quite a spicy sweet blast on the first spray but after dry down is very reminiscent of Clinique's Aromatics Elixir which is one of my favorite fragrances.
I started on New Year’s Day and will report back when it’s done.
